Ongoing Projects

Photovoltaic technology cluster is implementing two projects:

"Photovoltaic technology for business (PV4B)"

  • Project No. VP2-1.4-ŪM-01-C-01-002,
  • Program: Economic Growth Program,
  • Action priority: economic competitiveness and economic growth of research and technological development
  • Inoklaster LT
  • Funding: 1416 211.00 LT
  • Financing and administration of the contract was signed: 2010-10-15

Project Description: The EU photovoltaic (PV) industry is listed as one of the most promising for the EU's energy objectives, enabling the security of energy supply, reducing dependence on fossil fuel price shocks and fighting climate change and increases the EU's energy sector. The present-day PV industry is making rapid technological progress, rising production volumes, increases in the number of new entrants and competitive pressures. This industry profile is radically transforming the established players in the field photovoltaics and forces to look for new business models. One of them - clustering. Clustering is recognized measure for industry competitiveness, forming favorable conditions for business growth and productivity, promoting innovation and high added value. Lithuania PV industry is poorly developed, and local companies do not participate in the growing PV market. Therefore, Lithuania is one of the least developed regions in the field of photovoltaics. In order to increase the industry's international competitiveness in 2008 Photovoltaic technology cluster (FETK) has been established. FETK is creating favorable conditions for the PV-based businesses synergy and closer cooperation with the scientific community. The successful implementation of the project will generate long-term partnership between the FETK private entities and research institutions and will encourage R & D activity, thus strengthening internal and external relationships. It will significantly accelerate the development of FETK, while creating necessary conditions for international competitiveness of Lithuanian PV industry.

"Photovoltaic technology cluster of open access to R&D infrastructure (PVPLIUS)"

  • Project Code: VP2-1.4-Economy-02-C-01-001
  • Action Programme: Economic Development Program
  • Action Programme priority: economic competitiveness and economic growth of research and technological development
  • Action Programme priority initiative: Inoklaster LT+
  • Funding: 17,023 341.00 Lt
  • Funding and administration of contracts signed 2010-11-18

Project Description: In order to increase the photovoltaic industry in Lithuania and international competitiveness of photovoltaic technology the added value in 2008. Photovoltaic technology has been established in the cluster (FTK), creating favorable conditions for photovoltaics companies operating synergies and close cooperation with the scientific community. Successful FTK activities require open access to R&D infrastructure, creating a favorable environment for close interaction between business and science. Current scientific infrastructure owned by the individual institutes and universities, are dispersed geographically and thematically, so most scientists do not communicate with each other, without better infrastructure and intellectual resources of common problems. FTK will create the infrastructure to carry out high quality R & D activities focused exclusively on PV area, and common problems and improving the competitiveness of PV industry will bring together not only researchers but also the business community.
